Margreet de Heer studied theology but decided to become a comic artist. After graduating in 1999 she got a job in the comic store Lambiek in Amsterdam, where she worked alongside comic expert Kees Kousemaker on the online Comiclopedia on They collaborated on a book on Dutch comics which appeared in 2005, after which Margreet made the switch to becoming a full-time comic artist. Her work has been published in a wide range of Dutch newspapers and magazines, from children's comics to philosophical graphic reports. These latter caught the interest of publishing house Meinema, who asked her to make a comic book on philosophy. 'Filosofie in Beeld' appeared in 2010. Following its success, Margreet made a second comic book on religion (2011) and is currently working on a third, about science.
