BIO:

Stephen Weiner is director of the Maynard Public Library, in Maynard, Massachusetts, and a comics historian and critic who has been a pioneering advocate for graphic novels in public libraries and education. He has been writing about comic art since 1992, and has published numerous articles and reviews in magazines including Library Journal, School Library Journal, the Voice of Youth Advocates, and the Shy Librarian. He holds master’s degree in children’s literature from Simmons College and a M.L.I.S. from the University of Rhode Island. In addition to his previous books on comic art, 100 Graphic Novels for Public Libraries (Kitchen Sink Press) and The 101 Best Graphic Novels (NBM), he is also the author of Bring an Author to Your Library (The Highsmith Press), coauthor with N. C. Christopher Couch of The Will Eisner Companion (DC Comics), author of Hellboy: the Companion (with Jason Hall and Victoria Blake) and Using Graphic Novels in the Classroom:A Guide for Teachers and Librarians. He has contributed to many anthologies and is co-editor of the encyclopedia series: Critical Survey of Graphic Novels (Salem Press).
